About Me

I think therapy is most effective when there is a balance between the development of insight and gaining the immediate tools to handle life's struggles. In addition to EMDR, I utilize cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) concepts and skills. While it may be important at times to focus on historical life events, my approach always consists of skill building and development of coping strategies in addition to processing the past.

I have considerable experience working with adults and adolescents.  I am trained in trauma treatment, as well as adolescent substance abuse treatment, and LGBTQI informed treatment. I have worked with new moms and dads assisting with adjustment and parenting skills, and also in outpatient settings exploring issues related to mood regulation and/or grief and loss. I have helped people improve communication with loved ones, and assisted others with learning to set boundaries in their relationships.
